Canada Thistle Stem Weevil

Ceutorhynchus litura also known as Hadroplontus litura: Larvae of this species feed in the stem and the root of Canada thistle and then create exit holes in the plant when they emerge as adults. These exit holes open up the plant to natural pathogens in the soil. Attacked portions of the plant do not survive the winter and the plant does not put up as many new stems the following year. This can thin thistle density and reduce vigor.

$150 per release of 100 insects. Available late-August to early September.
